Just a quick question as i know Pete Waller has looked into this, the video at the bottom of this thread

does the flamey one count as a walker in the us antweights, from my understanding it doesn't. It also makes me cry that the robot with tracks can't push it very well.

I have had a look at this and I think as far as the RFL rules (these seem to be used by most competitions in the US) are concerned such a robot as with ours would be considered a shuffle bot and get no weight advantage. It is the continuous operation of the drive motor producing continuous movement of the robot that you can't argue round. Walkers get 100% weight bonus shufflers get 0%.
Below is the section concerned,
3.1.1. Rolling (wheels, tracks or the whole robot)
3.1.2. Non-wheeled: non-wheeled robots have no rolling elements in contact with the floor and no continuous rolling or cam operated motion in contact with the floor, either directly or via a linkage. Motion is ?continuous? if continuous operation of the drive motor(s) produces continuous motion of the robot. Linear-actuated legs and novel non-wheeled drive systems may qualify for this bonus. 3.1.3. Shuffling (rotational cam operated legs)
