good PHPBB mods...

It's worth checking out the mods for PHPBB. There are a few simple security ones that you might find useful.

there's a minor secuitry one that only shows email addresses to registered users, one that scuppers the spam bots by changing the "agreed" flag.

more complicated but useful is the calendar mod, have it installed on www.minisumo.org.uk/forum if you want to check that one out.

Hi Colin, and welcome.

I run a couple of phpbb boards myself, and when I installed my first I put in a load of mods, but it's such a grind to work out if new service releases supercede your mods, or even worse, only partially supercede your mods, that in the end I gave up, and now try to run a virtually "vanilla" board.
