Re: orange transmitter problem
A broken solder joint is a possiblity and quite easy to fix. Just heat each joint up and feed a little solder in. It's important to add a little more solder as the flux in the new solder will help the solder to flow. Just re-heating a joint without adding more flux often doesn't reflow the joint properly. You don't actually need any more solder, but it's the easiest source of flux!

i've fixed it! you were right Rory. it was the potentiometre. the signal wire was a bit loose so i soldered it back in with a much more robust joint. thanks for all your help guys!

Ah awesome I've found them to be really good transmitters once you get the hang of them (better than the spektrums in many ways imo), though the quality seems to be a little hit and miss as you've seen..

Re: orange transmitter problem
yeah, when i looked inside it i saw that most of the solder joints were a bit rubbish even by my standards it is a good trandmitter though. transmitter mixing will mean i can now build my own nanos a bit easier as i wont have to worry about installing mixing on the robot and the ability to configure the controls specifically for one model means i've been able to set chocolate orange up so that i don't have to drive it backwards anymore and still have other robots bound to it as well.
