3D printing - 8mm sprocket help needed

Post by limpet »

I`m trying to print a sprocket to run 8mm chain on, I`ve tried a few manual attempts at it but I can`t get it quite right.
Is there a plug in for sketchup to do them or is there a formula I need to follow (I`m guessing there is but I can`t find it)

12 teeth would be easiest and will do the job for what I want it for.

Do you have any more information on the chain? Dimensions etc?

Its just the standard 8mm chain that Technobots sells, I would put a link (pun sorry!) but their site isn`t loading at the minute.

That looks like a DIN 8187 or similar, It shouldn't be too hard to generate the CAD for one. I will have a closer look when I get home from work.

I have managed to use that to draw a crude profile.

I am unsure how easy it is in sketchup though.
