I have built a blade robot wich is a beetle weight but should the blade have sharpened edges and should it spin forward or backwards :)
Pugster is 9 years old and is autistic,he can be blunt and sometimes seems rude,but he's just to the point!!!please try to be clear when talking to him.his obsession is robot wars and pugs!!thanks guys(pugsters mum!!)

The answer to both those questions are probably "it depends"! :)

If you want your blade to slice through armour them it will need to be sharp. If the intention is more to batter the opponent and knock them around (or over) then a blunt blade may be more effective.

As to which direction you want it to spin, "backwards" or "forwards" are only relative descriptions. Assuming you have a horizontal blade, one side will move forwards (relative to the robot) and the other side will move backwards. If you reverse the direction of the blade, the above will still be true.
The only time direction is significant is in a vertical spinner, where you want the front of the blade to be moving upwards.

The key is to think about what will happen when the blade hits something.
