button modding

Post by Anoptimistprime »

hey i want to add a button to the front of my controller for my flipper you know like a single push button
http://images.maplin.co.uk/300/fh91y.jpg

which side on my current switch do i wire it to?

Image

i want to be able to have the switch on a switch if you get me

so i flip the switch at the top then i can use the small red switch, otherwise the switch does nothing

so i switch the ability to use it?

atm the switch at the top is a throttle cut

Wire the button in series with the switch so that the switch has to be on and the button has to be pressed.

Assuming that when the switch is up the throttle is cut you put the button anywhere along either of the two wires currently coming from the switch

As daliad100 says, you need to wire the two switches in series.

Remove one of the black wires from the toggle switch.
Connect the wire to one terminal of your push-button switch.
Add a new wire to connect the other terminal of the push-button switch to the terminal of the toggle switch that you removed the original wire from.

Now, with the toggle switch on, pressing the button will do whatever the toggle switch used to do.
With the toggle switch off, the push button won't do anything.

Okay but when I switch the toggle switch to off it sends my flipper arm down (throttle off) , I then want a button to activate my flipper (turn the throttle back on)

I think I'm confusing myself or is there an easier option?

Ah, now I get it. Try hooking up the button across the top terminal on the switch and either of the other two terminals.

Well I'm hopefully going up to maplins sometime today, what kind of push button would be best?
Push to make or break?
I'm thinking a make? As it will switch the throttle on when I push it - the flipper goes up, then when I let go, the flipper goes down because the throttle is off
