Does someone sell a unit,or do I need to make one up? If so,what would I need to make one or two??
Has anyone done a small tutorial, maybe??
Many thanks

Simon has a guide on his site, really easy to follow and works well.

If you can't be bothered to build one, you can buy one from micron, but they only do 5v, not 6v.

For the 78-series regulators the capacitors are not critical, in fact you can often get away without them, especially if the wires are short (as they always are in an ant!)
I have used 0.1uF ceramic capacitors with no problem. Tantalum or aluminium will be OK, but you need to get the polarity right. Any value 0.1uF or higher will be OK. Voltage rating should be at least 50% higher than the maximum battery voltage to be on the safe side.
