Grazie :) Just wondering, when I try bending some 3 mm HDPE, it should stay in place, right? If not, what can I do in order for it to stay that way?

It will stay that way yes. Its a very easy material to work with. If I can do it, anyone can!

when you bend HDPE its usually and idea to melt a line along where its folded to make sure it stays there and doesn't try to unbend itself, which had happened to me.

As for cutting out, I have used a dremel and tin snips to great effect on mine :)

Ummm, do you mean using a soldering iron on the inside of the bent piece?
