Hmm, shiny servo. Jealous. Looking forward to seeing how well it flips.

Rear shell hopefully finished. It was designed so wheels could fit inside. I’ve been crafting these with hand tools only. So my precision cutting, Is normally a good few cm off. 🙈.

Need to cut a section out the middle to allow flipper. And add front scoop next.

And here it all is. Some of the parts from China only took 2weeks to arrive. Amazing

£300 bought:

12 x 10a ESC (decided on these as the students won’t have to do any soldering.
6 x Ni-mh battery
12 x wheels
12 x continuous servo (spinning weapon, bought these as a back up... in case of esc burn out or micro motor failure)
6 x servo (axe)
5 x 1mm polycarbonate
12 x hot glue sticks
60 x motor mounts(order error ops... got 60 for £10)
12x 400rpm micro gear motor
3 x Turnigy 4 channel transmittor
3 x turnigy reciever

Enough parts to make 6 robots. Polycarbonate is to House the electronics only in a box. The pupils will build armour and weapons. I bought all the electronics from China. Super cheap.

House robot no 2.

Poor design of flipper arms. Needs one solid plate. I have run out of 1.5mm polycarbonate though.

It does flip and self right well. If angle is wrong one of the lifting arms pops out the side.

It’s half term so I’m going to put together all the electronics and gather cardboard from supermarkets. For my school robot wars club. I’ll upload pictures as I go.

DRAX looks great! I like how you connected up the servo to the weapon, and how you've bolted the armour on. I might take design cues from you to adapt to my own antweight, with some construction differences, of course.
DAZ DUZ BOTZ

Fili-PA (wedge flipper)
Watta Doze (tank tracked pusher)
Wolfhead (front wheel drive flipper)
2-2 Liftman (fork lifter)
The Ting Goes Grrrab (grabber/control)

Thanks dazmund.

Problem with how I’ve bolted it together means it’s very fiddly to open up the shell for battery replacement. I have to use a long neck plier to grip the nuts inside the bot.

I’m pretty pleased with how it’s ended up. Now I need someone to battle...

First base box built. They will be able to chose from a selection of wheels.

The 1mm polycarbonate is very weak and flexible. Will need to add more strengthening bolts as when it’s moving the plastic flex’s and randomly changes the direction. 🙁 I new it wouldn’t be simple. 5 more to go...

4 battle boxes complete. 2 to go.

Slight problem when they reverse they spin in circles. I must have an imbalance some how???

I’ve ordered some tiny caster wheels which will hopefully sort the problem. Any ideas??

Arena, 6 bots and 2 house robots built!!! Around 2 months of building and £400 spent.

All to inspire the next generation of school children(at my school) to get into robotics. Oh...and my own enjoyment too.

Each team will recieve a battle box, 1 continuous servo, 1 standard servo and a stack of card and plastic. Their challenge is to build a robot to battle with. 4 hours of build time. 1 hour(hopefully) to crown a Robot Wars champion.
