Hi Dan,

I'd recommend that instead if putting them directly into this forum you link to them... like this

Code: Select all

picture url
for example

Code: Select all

Hope that helps - Simon

Hi! Back again!

Chris and I have kind of given up on the disc idea for the time being... because we can't find one. Oh well.

We're thinking of attaching static blades instead for pushing, impaling, etc. Which would be more practical - Stanley knife blades or small sharp stainless steel knife blades?

Welcome back Nick!
Both Stanley knife blades and scalpel baldes have been used in the past.

To be honest, I don't think either really do an awful lot of damage to other robots.

BUT they will do lots of damage to you and/or other people so you MUST make sure they're covered outside of the arena.

Yeah I know - the idea is to use them partly as pushing weapons, partly as something to keep the body of the robot safe from attacks that get close and personal, and also for impaling the robots with weaker armour....

And don't worry about us, we'll be careful. And if we enter it into a competition we'll bring some polystyrene or bubblewrap or something.

Just a quick reminder of the rules
5f. Protective gloves must be worn when handling robots with sharp edges.
5g. All sharp edges must have protective covers outside the arena. All protective covers are to be coloured red and made clearly visible.

Thanks for the reminder - that'll be a doddle to conform to.

Got hold of some Stanley blades, but I might have to drill holes in them so that I can fit them to the robot's polycarbonate armour.

You will find it very difficult to drill stanley knife or any other blade.

I have just completed an upgrade to Mutant. It has never been as good since I upgraded to 2.4Ghz as the new PCB didn't fit properly and the chassis had been repaired twice. I have now replaced the titanium main weapon mounts with 6mm polycarb built a new spinner with two small lathe parting off tools as cutters and changed to 12.6v.
