Been trying to edit the CAD of Killer-Wolf 2, trying to shave off weight in places (not finding much I can comfortably remove). The Chassis weighs 55g, electronics weigh 75g and the flipper arm and panel weighs 20-30g. I managed to fit everything inside and got it up and running. Could do with so advice here.

Hi. I usually drill some small holes in the chasis if I need to shave a gram off. Theres always some difference in scales though so you might be alright but its better not to take the risk.

The robot looks great by the way.

The biggest difference I found was changing to Alloy 910 nylon which will also solve your distortion problems.
This being several times stronger than ABS means you can thin down the sides and base a bit and still be stronger though it is more flexible so not too thin.
Also you don't really need to surround the battery just hold it in with double sided tape and dispense with the motor brackets and use the 1.6 mm mounting holes in the gearboxes.
Here are the bits of Flippant in 910 dyed blue the basic chassis weighs just 22.5 gms.
The side walls are 2.2 mm the back 2 mm and the floor 1 mm although I have since thickened the sides a little as it was well under weight.

Well I did that with Killer-Wolf 1.5 and failed to shave any weight off of it, ended up using 1mm polycarb in places instead of 1.5mm polycarb.

And thanks, Killer-Wolf is starting to look more like the lego bot that it originated from.

Well Peter I would give the 910 nylon a try but there isn't a printer in the UK that does that on 3D hub.

The battery cover was just down to preference over using adhesive stuff for holding the internals.

Well that be a interesting idea, but I'm not sure how much weigh would be saved removing the old mounts and adding a wall for the motor to mount to in the sides of the bot.

Updated the CAD:

And here it is compared to the old version (newest on the right):

Now the question is how much weight could I be saving here.

Even if you don't have a 3D printer you can still install Cura then if you load the STL file in it will give you a reasonable estimate of the weight of the printed object.
I just loaded in the file for the flippant chassis above and it gave me 24 gms as opposed to the measured weight of 22.5 gms so not precise but it will give a fairly good indication of the weight savings you have made.
Also if you change the view mode to layers you can check out each layer and get a much better indication that the part is going to print correctly before you send it off.

Rather than drilling holes I found the honeycomb sections, in the base particularly, can help a lot.

Using the help of the Cura software Pete suggested, I've been cutting weight out of KW 2's CAD roughly looking to be saving 10g in weight.

Old Version (69g, Base = 62g, flipper arms = 7g )

New Version (57g, Base=48g flipper arms = 9g)

Finalised the CAD and it's printing as we speak.

Added supports for the print too.

And started doing edits to my other ant concepts.

While waiting for the new print of KW2 I continued my work of my 6 wheeled bot H.B.
