The only 3D printed robots I've seen are from shape ways- and their nylon is way stronger then ABS that I used. Not sure what'll happen.... but at least the weapon works.
...as I find out in the video....3D printed parts..not great to make a weapon out of. I think I could change the design a bit and make it work- but it'd probably just be better to find a more ideal material for the weapon.

It looks pretty awesome. Interesting drum, any particular reason for the belt drive? What weight/size is it, it looks huge in the testing video next to the door?
You should find the 3d printed stuff is fine as long as you're intelligent with it; try not to take direct hits on corners, reinforce areas that will be under pressure, that sort of thing. That said, I'm not so sure about using it for the body of your drum. It'll be interesting to see if it holds up!

Yep- US ant weight. Hopefully I didn't post this in the wrong spot? And I've heard that the shock of impact can break brushless motors that are direct driving weapons, which is why I decided to use a belt drive. I also wanted to slow the weapon down a bit, because I have two teeth per rotation and want to get a good bite on the opponent.

These featherweight camps have me pretty exhausted.
It'll be interesting how the printing fairs in larger robots to the UK ants. Though I do worry about the drum aswell, might be worth taking some spares.
We're mostly all UK roboteers here Altapowderdog, so we don't have a 1lb class (UK ants are 150g), but we're still interested to see your creations nonetheless .
Good video, but I disagree with your conclusion. 3d printed ABS is more than sufficient for combat robot use, but just not for absolutely everything. Bit Error's disk came off because it's mounts were thin and weak; if they'd been thicker and more structurally supported it would've been better. Even if you did want something stronger to mount a spinning weapon on, the 3d printed ABS is still great for making the rest of the chassis as well as miscellaneous bits like wheels and linkages for servos.
