New antweight fighter

Post by Nixon »

Spent the last week watching reruns of Robot Wars and decided I'd have a crack at building something. Ordered RapidRory's NanoTwo kit (lovely piece of kit BTW) and his reccomended parts for a flipper bot. I'll be playing around in SolidWorks tonight to design a chassis then print them off on my Ultimaker 2. Might even upload the STL if anyone wants it. If that goes well, might have a crack at an EDF pusher.

Hi Nixon, and welcome to the forum! We look forward to seeing what you come up with!

If you're able too, I'd advise popping along to watch the AWS next weekend in Reading. There's no better way to learn and be inspired than to see everyone else's robots first hand :).

Might come down to Reading next weekend, should have my first bot finished by then.

Modelled a base for a flipper robot based on Panic Attack from Robot Wars. I'll print it off later today after the electrician has finished wiring in my new shower.

That might be the quickest turn around from "hi I'm new" to competing in an AWS if you do manage to get signed up for Reading!

Printed out a test chassis for Flippertygibbit. Everything fits well but I set the fill percentage too low, so the servo standoffs snapped off while I tried to screw the servo in place. Thickened them up and increased the fill percentage so mk2 should be better. Just need to get it finished for AWS46 :p

What percentage do you print on? I just normally use 100% infill.
