You need a way if removing power from ALL robots, either by removable link or by access to the battery plug.

I guess EDF fans should failsafe the same way any 'spinner' has to too.

After months of development, the latest and greatest creation by the RobotMad team is complete. ish...
a single PCB capable of all a truly "smart" ant could need.
battery inputs from 10v to 3.3v
reverse polarity protection
gyro and accelerometer to correct out of balance motor pairs.
bluetooth le 4.0 (yes we decided to give bluetooth a go, again)
any external receiver is compatible (dsm2)
usb host (by a usb micro ab plug) (can also power the device)
4 led status lights
dives 2 motors and countless servos or other digital outputs like external esc's
all powered by an arm m0+ processor
all in only a 21mm by 28mm package

there is a possibility of us selling some if anyone is interested
now i said ish at the beginning as we have nearly no code for it, and have no idea if this has all been a waste of time and a lot of money

Damn that's compact. That hand soldered or do you get a company to assemble them?

it is so small that it is impossible to solder by hand so the pcb is made and assembled by pcb train

I'd definitely be interested in one or two, largely because I can never have enough weird speed controllers :) how much would you be looking for for them?

Very impressive! The gyro and accelerometer functions look very interesting indeed. What's the specs of the motor drivers? Think you might sell them with a receiver pre-attached? Can the pins on the underside be easily removed to save space?

price: dont have one yet depends on how much of a full on package we make
the connectors on the bottom are surface mount and very small so nearly no hand soldering is possible but we have some unpopulated boards that we could get made without the connectors however the bluetooth goes in the pads that you see in the second image adding a bit more to the size package
the receiver, other than the bluetooth, are on a connection through the right hand side connector meaning any satellite style receiver can be used.

So, the new control boards now have had some progress to the point where we got a robot to work in time for aws 50 but has not had much progress since as all are robots were brutally destroyed by spinners at aws 50, but most will just be rebuilt with slight improvements. but hopefully we will get some more work done on the code to realy give you an idea of how much this tiny little thing can do!

as for are latest creation, it will hopefully be a walking flea with the same servo as in smart and 5 to make a very powerful flipper, and will have an identical twin to make a ant walker cluster because why not.
As we now have some more interesting armor options, like stainless steel and aluminum the new robot should withstand spinners pretty well, or at least that's the idea. Just have to see if i can get it in weight as are stainless steel is about 3 times heavier than are polycarb.

Not sure if people really want another build log on the forums? But if you do i will try harder to keep this page updated with the latest information from the RobotMad team.
