Tashic's ants

Post by Tashic »

Hi from Italy!

Fortunately robot wars was shown on italy too and I've been a fan since then.
I actually started building for some years.

This is my current team:

Stormer 2.1

6WD, pusher, invertible.. You can guess the robot that this is based on.

Planning on rebuild this, because it's becoming too messy, the pieces are glued and I can't take out the wheels, and I discovered that the material craks if I clean it with alcohol.

F2
This is the lastest one and inside the alumimium pannels there is a welded brass tube chassis that holds all the components and the pannels.
All the components can be taken out with all of the chassis intact.

By the way on the dark it's awsome, because the light of the recever is reflected on the floor! :D

The older robots have been dismantled, but I saved the chassis and grouped in this sculpture/pile :

There are 5 chassis in there.

Other than the new Stormer, I'm planning to make a crusher powered by two 298:1 gearbox motors.

Bonjourno! Those are mighty impressive looking! F2 looks uncannily like an old fleaweight called Bruce.

Welcome to the forum Tashic.
Looks like a lot of work has gone into the robots I especially like the 6 wheel drive.
Do you get many competitions to go to in Italy.

I will polish it later but I need something to control the motors, the battery is a 350mAh 2 cell lipo.

Petter, unfortunately there aren't any antweight competition, but I could try and make an arena and see if I can convince some one to make something similar to an ant.

Also Dave, it's spelled "Buongiorno". :)

Sorry for not posting anything for a while.

Here is the progect for Stormer 3 (not 100% finished):

Why it is pink?
Because of this:

It is going to be made with 1.5mm PCB with copper on both sides and some parts are going to be welded.
It's the same method that I used for F2.

It's a bit heavy so I want to upgrade it to 2 cell lipo.
I ordered some of the botbitz 10AMP ESCs + some gear motors a few weeks ago, but they still haven't arrived and I haven't receved any emails :( , I will send an email my self.

EDIT: It turned out that they already sent an email the 4th of july and I didn't notice it.

Update:

Made the rest of the PCB parts, soldered 3 of them and I made and tweaked the holes for the brass rods so the gears can rotate freely:

Made the wheels:

I only need to shorten the axles and the drive train is done!

I also want to change the name, because Stormer it's very lazy. Thinking of Vector, but i'm not getting rid of the 3.

This is the robot so far:
By the way it's shinier in real life.

Right now it weights 109 grams.
I'm still undecised about the name.
Right now I'm thinking of an italian translation of something related with a storm, like Vortice, Tempesta or Bufera.
What you think I should do?

Also this is something that I did about a year ago just for fun:
