I do that too (usually with marbles; they're more of a challenge) but if I'm honest i just wanted an excuse to build another silly antweight :)
I've got a few improvements to make; hopefully it'll be less of an ordeal to keep it in the arena when I'm finished :P

Here's a possible niggley loophole...a team at the AWS must be fully independent of other teams. If an autonomous robot can drive itself, can it be entered as its own team in its own right? It doesn't share parts or drivers with any other team...

Would be really cool as part of a cluster, if you could keep the weight down enough??

I think the robot will have a hard time entering the arena without a driver from another team putting it in there. But if you can create a robot that can listen out for its own fights and makes its own way to the arena, then maybe...

Hehe, well I'd have to be able to activate it remotely to enter it in the AWS; it's currently runs continuously once switched on. Thinking of using an light sensor and torch to start it (not so worried about deactivating it; it's pretty harmless!). Would mean adding some electronics in the form of a transistor to amplify the signal from the light sensor, and I'm trying to keep this electronics free. Alternatively I could just have a button which once released waits a few seconds till switching the robot on... have to get the timing right though :P

I don't think it competed in any AWS.
