Well having had a break from robots over Christmas, I decided I should get some of the more major bits done before i head back to uni.

Seeing as Why Wait? was only 108g and had loads of space in the cube, I've started work on Tetanus, which is just gonna be a more meaty version of Why Wait?. I cut out the blade today from some 3.5mm Hardox:

Comes in at 50g, which should be ok. Might have to loose a little weight from it, but hopefully not much.

Dunno if this'll ever be a workable robot; the blade might be slightly on the OTT side for that... but worth a shot :P

Nah you're doing it wrong... If you really want a good blade make it out of soft cheese.

My poor poor robots. :(

A series of three robots on Robot Wars, an FBS from Motorama last year, another one from Battlebots IQ...unless your only criteria is has it been used in UK ants before, in which case its totes unique.

You could make another asdfmovie reference and call it 'My Tie Is Evil and It's Going To Kill Me' :P

Well, I've built another ant, though not the one I was planning to:

Image

It's a fairly uninspiring replacement to chocolate bot; was originally meant to be Lionel's replacement, but much of the design (and most of it's parts) came from chocolate bot. It's got a Park HPX in there driving the flipper as they were going for £4 on HK so I grabbed one. Has a good flip, but could probably do with some faster motors; 50:1's feel a bit sluggish on a robot this size. Don't know if it'll ever make the team, but should at least make a much better drive-all-day for uni open days than chocolate bot or Lionel.

EDIT:

Made it less boring:

Image

30:1 motors, large wheels, and googly eyes... a winning combination :P

Sadly it doesn't quite fit in the cube with large wheels.. but even with small wheels it's a lot better on the faster motors. For the moment it's gonna fill Tetanus/ Bad idea's place on my team, replacing Tinny, as this things fairly well armoured with the front being 2mm polycarb. As much as I really like Tinny, it is not armoured well and i fear would be no more after it's next event... May make a polycarb version of it one day :L
