Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
Can't quite remember which robots did the damage at antfreeze 2.5 but the poly carb jammed one wheel causing the controller running on three cells to burn out.
I swapped controllers between rounds but eventually the spinner stopped working due I found out afterwards to the blade coming loose and rubbing on the chassis.
Still it was out by then and it would probably have got even more damage in the annihilator.

I feel swapping the controller out was pushing the 5 minute fight delay a little far, but hey you didn't manage to break my other robots too much after that so I wasn't too worried :L

Yes I probably wouldn't get away with that at an AWS.

You could just swap one robot for the other and hope no-one notices.

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
Just started repairing some of my robots from the AWS and decided to start with Flippant.
Apart from new batteries and a repair to the servo wiring caused by opening the flipper at the wrong moment and allowing a spinner inside it didn't really need much else.
But then I decided the scoop was getting a bit chewed, the chassis was cracked and one of the tynes has been repaired several times so I might as well do a complete rebuild.
After all with these 3D printed robots its not like you have to build anything, all you have to do is turn on the printer, wait a couple of hours and out pops a robot.
This time I have made the chassis deeper so less ground clearance and also extended the 2mm polycarb scoop further down the sides for more protection.
Here it is so far still have to fit the new batteries and flipper link and maybe make some new wheels that are recessed a little more plus mold some tyres.

That looks like a winner to me Peter. A nice evolution of a great design.

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
Have now fitted new matching wheels with fluorescent orange tyres plus doubled the thickness of the curved tines.
Inside I have fitted a large chunk of polycarbonate to try and give a bit more protection to the electronics.

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
I think my robots are breeding.
I left Flippant and Dominant in the cupboard and when I returned I found this which will be the new Defiant.
Here it is in action

That's an awesome robot and I'm loving the colours!
Can't wait to see it fight.
