While looking at ways to improve Deflea I have found that lego do some nice rubber tracks. (£0.37 each)

These are the drive wheels that fit them (£0.05 each). The hole is to big for our motors but doesn't go right through and it looks like drilling through with a 2.9mm drill gives a nice tight fit although it might need a spot of glue after a few battles.

How odd, I bought a couple of sets of those only last week. I guess we were both 'inspired' by Me So Horny. :P

I used a different hub though, I used one where the hole goes right the way through, and used a custom adapter between the wheel and the motor, like I used on most of my ants. For anyone else interested they're almost perfect size for ants (they do slightly bigger set too), but they aren't very grippy.

As I said I am using them on a flea I couldn't find a larger one for the ant so I getting some printing. (30mm dia)
I didn't notice Tim used them did they appear to give good grip, they feel as though they should and a bit more compact.

I meant bigger tracks, not bigger wheels. The ones you posted the link to are about 2.5" long when on the wheels. The next size up are about 4" long. They did seem to work quite well for Tim, but when mine arrived, they seemed a bit hard. They certainly don't give as much grip as lego wheels do. I was going to use them for drive on the newest version of my spinner Randar, but will probably abandon them in favour of four wheel drive.

Just finished a rebuild of Defiant after the damage it received at the last AWS.
Just a new printed chassis and lid and then everthing transfered across.
Looks a bit of a hotch potch of colours now.

Just about finished the rebuild with the weight I saved using ABS instead of fibreglass I was able to introduce some Titanium sheet on the scoop all be it thin.
