Rules version 4.2 Published!

Post by BeligerAnt »

After a bit of a delay, version 4.2 rules have been published.

http://robotwars101.org/ants/rules.htm

The changes are the result of the discussions which took place at the end of last year. The changes have all been agreed by the AWS committee. The result of most of the discussions was actually "we already have a rule for this, nothing needs to change". :)

The major changes are as follows:
2a: The rules now provide guidance for weight limits for clusters of more than 2 botlets.
3a: Battleboxes should now use 4mm polycarbonate minimum
4h: If one robot leaves the arena before the robots have made contact, the judges will decide whether to restart the fight or award a win to the robot remaining in the arena.
5e: Tech checks to include size, weight, link/switch, failsafe, name, sharp edges.
5j: Only drivers or designated officials may remove robots from the arena after a battle

Just finished building my ant and when I turn the transmitter off as long as the robot is not moving it will remain stationary does this conform with the failsafe requirements?
I’m actually team forgotten gods but for some reason I can’t change the username

Hi I'm building my first antweight and I want to know about the 4 inch square. does the robot have to fit inside it when it is on it's wheels? or does it just have to be able to fit in on one dimension.

It can fit in however it likes. For example this is one of mine in the cube:

Sidenote: The rules definitely need updating, they are 6 years old now and are no longer what we actually run to.
