Cheers guys.

Jolly nice of you to say!
Hmm, yeah, good point Dave.
It does bob on turning, but it is still pretty controllable. I am just not planning on turning much!!! :D

I'd be interested to know what happens if that meets one of my expandy things, though not enough to volunteer to try it!

Thanks for the encouragement.

Has to be one of the most awesome looking insect class machines I think I've seen. Bravo on the design flare, it's gorgeous!

Thanks a lot! The beater weapon took 2 prints to get right. Thanks to the incorrect mass being quoted on shape ways forums for steel, the first one was 20g too heavy. Rather than making the weapon smaller, I hollowed out the inside face by 1.5mm. The finish was not very good out the box, it took quite a bit of filing to get the imperfections out. I wanted it to look like a scaled down bigger robot. Looking forward to see how it performs!

It looks awesome! I think we all want to see how it performs, (though not necessarily against our own robots!). Interested as to how the stainless holds up; I use 2mm stainless for my blades but they never lasts very many fights before going out of shape (I need to get hold of some Ti). Hopefully your beater is a bit more robust.

Also, if this is running one of my controllers, if you wind the travel adjust down to 75% on elevator and aileron you still get full power but much better control.

Thanks Rory, I did not know that! Cool! I looked into Ti,but it was going to cost a fortune! Something like hardox is apparently harder wearing, and cheaper?? The printed weapon is cheap enough to carry a spare in case of emergencies, hmm, that's not a bad idea, I will have to organise that for the next AWS.

One of my robots uses a hardox blade. It's about as tough as Ti, but a lot heavier and the thinnest that you can get is 3.2mm. As such the blade's 50g so doesn't leave much weight for the rest of the robot (the blade's called Bad Idea, a name carried across to any robot with that blade). They do make 2mm hardox which would be ideal, but can't yet find a uk source.
