Best idea is to go to some events and get the hang of how they are run.

Basically, you need a venue - community centre, Scout hut, etc then you need to decide what you want to do and then publicise it on here and invite people along.
You will also need a fully enclosed arena if anyone is to run any spinners. Peter Waller, PeteC, Oliver and Craig have arenas. I think Dave (Razerdave) also has an arena.
If you haven't run an event before, and haven't been to many to figure out how the competitions are run, you may want to enlist someone with more experience to help out.

For the AWS, we insist that the organiser is over 18 or is part of a family group that we know from previous events. This is after a bad experience of someone "hosting" the AWS without arranging it properly with the "venue" - the whole thing was very nearly a complete disaster! Also you probably have to be 18 to book most venues.

It's up to you what sort of event you run (assuming it's not an AWS). If you publicise it on here (and are not in the Shetland Isles!) you will probably get some takers. Probably best to post some provisional details on here first to gauge interest before paying out to book a venue.

AWS events are approved by the committee.

Anyone can host their own event, but you'd be rash to do so without having attended some yourself, to see how it's done.
