Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
Just a little something to help my future efforts out.
A nice Reprap Prusa i3!
Just got to finish wiring this guy and then calibrate and he is good to go. I should also be able to upgrade him to print Polycarbonate, Nylon and Carbon fibre very easily
Also... STANLEY IS BACK! Kinda... Not really....
This made me cry inside when I saw Rorys handiwork on Stanley at the open day Though don't worry the parts to fix him are on order!
Also inertias self destruct of the day:

Printer's looking nice! I see what you mean about the cable management; very neat...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
A few new things in team shakey!
First up is 'Horizontal Spinner Of Doom' aka HSOD:
A nice undercutting horizontal spinner, it can still be controlled at full throttle as well. I thought it was about time I got in on the spinner business, can't leave all the fun to everyone else.
And a Nano weight, which is unamed right now (Naming a nano is hard).
With a heavily armoured receiver underneath:
Really the tape is there as without it I shorted the robot driving over an allen key. >.< It has a nice flipper that can just lift an ant and a 60mah Single Cell LiPo to keep it going. here it is with Stanley for scale:
Also in the works is a nice Nano spinner, though I may be pushing the weight a bit on this one :S.
Parts to repair my ducted fan robot:
And a quick test into cheaper wheels since I am rapidly running out of Pololu tyres.
As you can probably tell the 3D printer is working, and working nicely. I have it all setup ready to print:
Finally the team so far for the next AWS. The front left robot is a flea called Herbert which I may or may not be entering. For the main AWS the Nano will be clustered with the spinner and a fourth ant entered aswell.

Some test runs of a slightly earlier version of HSOD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMZcQGp ... e=youtu.be
Needless to say, I'm a little concerned about it...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
i think horrizontal spinners are becoming more popular because of anticyclone.
nice team shakey, sure you'll do well! where did you get that fan from and what motor/ESC do you use to make it spin?

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
The Fan is from hobbykings EDF section with a generic Turnigy 20A ESC. This fan is definitely overkill for an ant and a power draw to match But it is fun!
I built a horizontal as I like undercutters And it was easier to get into 125g as a vertical needs armour. Horizontals present a much bigger disc area so can get away with a lot less armour. Plus there are loads of verticals!
And finally don't mind me, just messing about. ¬.¬ Going to be building an ant from these tests to fill my final team slot, 2 motors and more wheels than that!

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
Looks like you are getting some good results with your 3D printer.
Re: Team Shakey Build Diary
3d printed parts looks great! out of interest where did you get your 3d printer from? Did you have to assemble it yourself?
