New Robots- Continued

Post by teamocean »

Since Oliver suggested starting up another thread I thought I'd start one.

And to kick it off here is the first of my recently rebuilt ants- Tesla 2

The old version worked reasonably well but the axe broke before it ever saw the arena- It was modified to have a flipper for a couple of events before it finally gave up.

So heres the new one

Name- Tesla 2
Weight- 123g
Length- 13cm
Width- 11cm
Height- 5.5cm
Drive- 2x 30:1 motors with ultralite wheels
Battery- 180mAh Lipo
Speedo- Planet 5 speedo/rx
Weapon- Titanium Axe powered by 50:1 HP motor
Weapon Controller- Peters Axe controller
Armour- mix of 1 and 2mm HDPE (with some aluminium to add)

Pics are here http://s881.photobucket.com/albums/ac13 ... G_1016.jpg

Videos to follow as sort as I sort out the problem with the axe (only fires intermittently)

nice, what is the axe made out of and did you make it yourself or was it made by machine?

Thanks guys!

The axe itself is made from titianium not sure what grade exactly but it is pretty tough and was laser cut by a local company.

As for looking like Terrorhurtz- that wasn't the original plan but while I was building it it started looking more and more like it so I carried on :)

There are still a few finishing touches and I'm sure that I have some 1mm polycarb lying around somewhere so it may end up becoming a proper antweight version.

The other ants are also in the process of being redone and once they are done I will put them on here.

Image

Image The sword is yellow on one side because its part of the armour from the original Saint before it was retired to make way for Saint Hammer, later renamed to The Saint

Looks brilliant Dave :) will the body be getting any extra armour or is it strong enough as is?

That's pretty much it for a servo flipper
Team Imperial - What is that, metric?
