At the AWS Remote-Controlled Dave asked why I hadn't answered his comments on Defiant which I had missed see below.
Maybe I'm just missing the point as usual, but is this Defiant actually any better than the last one? Looks pretty much the same, so why bother with 3D printing? I mean, I get its use for more intricate or complex machines, but if its just going to be the same, why not just use the old one?
The main problem with the old Defiant was the front and rear scoops were at too steep an angle and the double sided tape was always coming off.
The saving in weight has enabled me to replace the 0.5mm Ti scoops to 3.2mm fibreglass with 1mm Ti inset into it so they are much stronger.
As to being better it turned out to be very difficult to control which I put down to my driving until Andy had the same trouble in the robot roulette event.
Thinking about it since I realised what happend was I found it difficult to drive so I decided to try adding nonlinear control into the software in the new controller.
This had several issues and changing the software in situe on the controller is quit difficult as you need to disconnect one of the wires to the receiver to load it.
So I decided to go back to the original software and change to a transmitter with dual rate control but in the rush forgot to change transmitters.
