My next fleaweight is using slot car wheels and tyres, they seem fairly grippy

I got hold of some rubber that's used on table tennis bats. It peels off as bats get old and if you use it smooth side down it's quite effective. I used it on antiD at AWS33 and so did my cousin.

All of my robots(3) have used pickup rollers from HP printers.
I was impressed,at AWS33 at the grip I got.
I can get enough rubber for 4 tyres out of one roller.
This is the type of thing...

They fit on the pololou alloy hubs,or I use them on cut down lego wheels on Bruce.
EDIT: Here is one on ebay for ?4...

The rules don't preclude anything like this currently, and I see no reason why they should.earthwormjim wrote:I am sure that in slot car racing they use a sticky compound to coat the tyres before each race??? Is something like that legal in the rules??
Would something like this be any good?
"Grip Liquid for tyres 50ml (MB19063) MB Slot oil for tyres, softens the tyres for extra grip & better performance. (MB19063)"

If your wheels are at the back and really sticky you will end up staying still and waving the robot in the air. Getting grippy and not sticky is the key, although design can help avoid this.
This version of anticide could drive like a segway with fresh rubber on the wheels.
