I am really liking the look of that front wedge!

Cheers, I'm really pleased with how it turned out, even when it's this thin grade 5 titanium is a real pain to work with.

Team Zero, ready for AWS 56!

Look closely and you'll see a few changes on Valkyrie, all designed to beef up the front/weapon mount area. With the upgrades to Valkyrie and Axiom, and old reliable Zero, this should be a fairly competitive team, bring on Saturday!

Looking good! which one has to sit out, or do you have a second driver?

Re: GeorgeR's robots
Cheers, Vampire (overhead bar spinner) is sitting this one out, I haven't got around to fitting the new weapon esc yet (the current one has some bits missing) so it'll be on rumble duty only.

Re: GeorgeR's robots
Looking good as always. I'd missed your post about Axiom getting a new front end. Looks cool AF.
Sad I can't come to see them tomorrow. I still want to fight against Valkyrie one day. Maybe ant freeze 6 if you are planning on going.

Re: GeorgeR's robots
AWS 56 provided a rather different set of results compared to last time, with my worst set of results since I started roboteering!
Zero went out without a win, with neither fight being particularly memorable. Axiom started well with a hard fought and entertaining win over Dark Matter 5, its new wedge proving very robust, but lost its next 2 to go out. It did win the BBB rumble though.
I had high hopes for the upgraded Valkyrie after its 4th place last time, and if you wanted to put a positive spin on it you could say it won 100% of its fights. Unfortunately it only had one; just before the 2nd fight the NanoTwo relinquished its magic smoke and declined to operate any further.
I still had a great time though, and will be back stronger next time.

Just some slo-mo shots of Vampire doing its thing at the BBB halloween event...

Vamp may not be very competitive, but it does pack a punch when it's working.
The whole event was great fun, I had a blast.

Re: GeorgeR's robots
Love these little bots! Hope you dont mind me asking a question........ I have the Nano2, how do you get a spinner to work with it? I only have 2 motors connected and have one servo output.
Cheers!
Cheers!
Re: GeorgeR's robots
scottylad7: You connect the servo output to the input of a brushless ESC, also the power, and it will drive the three wires required for a brushless motor. Some of the ESCs are programmable and can have some parameters changed in the firmware through a suitable interface cable.
Robot: Betsie - RaspberryPi controlled flipper bot with gyro stablisation - too clever for her own good?
Re: GeorgeR's robots
Do note you can't plug a brushless ESC's servo lead directly into a nanotwo V3, the V3 outputs full battery voltage on the servo positive line. For most brushless ESC's you need to cut the red servo wire to prevent this full battery voltage from damaging the ESC.

Re: GeorgeR's robots
Others have already answered, but I might as well try and give a full explanation.
For a spinner you will need a brushless motor, and a brushless esc to drive it. The esc will have 3 sets of wires;
A) 3 wires to connect to the motor.
B) 2 wires for power (to be connected to the power wires between the battery plug and the NanoTwo)
C) a servo plug for the signal, this connects to the NanoTwo servo plug (with the centre red wire disconnected)
If you're looking for parts the Afro 12A esc and the Quanum Be1806 motor are good choices.

I'm just going to leave this here...

No need to bolt on some extra armour though, I'm almost certainly not building an antweight with four spinners
