Hi guys,
I too am new to the forum and antweights in general, I had the rather badly made and hastily hacked down to weight ?ber-ant in the last AWS. I bought myself a 7.4v hyperion lipo and a very cheap and very nasty DEXTERITY SMART CHARGER from robot birds the lipo has a balance plug attached so the first thing I had to do was buy two sets or adapter leads so that I could use the lipo with the charger and now I've come to use the charger for a second time it doesn't seem to want to work, Not happy! I'd like to get myself a new smaller lighter 2cell lipo as i found that my current one seems to last for ages on a charge and I could do with saving the weight. I'm also on the lookout for a small 3cell lipo has anyone got any advice on where i might find a good supplier for lightweight lipos and any advice on what would be a suitable charger (I like the sound of the Pro-Peak Quattro that Joey recommended but would I be able to charge my current lipo with its balancing plug going on.)

Cheers

Hi RichiePA!
Hows it going?

I dont own a pro-peak charger,so I cant comment.
But as far as batteries go,these seem to be the standard at the moment.I have one,and it is excellent.
Hyperion 7.4v 25c 180Mah ?7.75.
No balancing lead too. and 13.5g,so pretty light.

I have a core uac-40 charger,which is good,if a little complicated.
It is also ?60,so possibly not a good first buy choice.

The pro-peak appears too be a good buy.
Get the plus model with 240v input though.

Jim :)

This is a quote from a previous thread...

"You don't need to worry about a balance charger unless you're charging higher capacity cells, as far as I understand it. I've worked with cells up to 340mah, in 2 and 3 cell packs, and have never used a balance charger, and nor has anyone in antweights AFAIK."

The original thread is here...

Hope that helps.

Cheers Earthworm Jim, Lipos and charger have now been ordered. I was having a read through some other threads last night and I think that I might have killed my current lipo by running it too low (7.4v down to 4.6v) they should come with a instruction manual because if there's one thing I'm good at its breaking electronic components. ah well I suppose its a learning curve.
Cheers again for the advice.
