I forgot about the Darlington's, they were the only way I could stop the 555 timer that I was using to simulate the output of a servo in yenka from releasing virtual magic smoke as soon as I turned it on. Ah, now I get it. Try hooking up the button across the top terminal on the switch and either of the other two terminals.

Assuming that when the switch is up the throttle is cut you put the button anywhere along either of the two wires currently coming from the switch

Wire the button in series with the switch so that the switch has to be on and the button has to be pressed.
