Re: Earthwormjim's Stuff

cheers Jim! I'm the opposite to you and have only ever balanced my lipos so am not really sure how crucial it is for these size lipos. Getting a pre-made 2s sounds like the safest option though I may try and integrate 2 1s cells in and charge them seperately. p.s. Currently scratching my head as to ...

Re: Earthwormjim's Stuff

Hi Jim, since you seem to have tried out a few battery types, just wondering what's your experience with regards to the cells staying balanced? I notice those 138mAh one's that are out of stock only have a discharge connector, so wondering what's your experience with them (I guess you wouldn't keep ...

Re: Earthwormjim's Stuff

I must say that was a lucky hit on the side! Thanks for the advice on the dx6i, that's the one I'm looking at.....funds permitting. I think I'll be investing in some slightly smaller lipos also in the future to make way for some extra weight elsewhere, so those links will come in handy for me also :...

Re: Earthwormjim's Stuff

I don't think Raoul will ever been in the arena for the full 3 minutes! (I don't recall seeing many (if any...)UK antweight fights last 3 minutes anyway, let alone a spinner like Raoul) but I guess your concern is more back to back fights in the latter tournament stages. Spyro is actually running of...

Re: Earthwormjim's Stuff

They're all looking great Jim. I think this hell boy looks more practical than the last with the slightly steeper scoop and graceful self righting! Glad to see Raoul is now more under control, I think it's going to be THE one to beat at AWS38, it was powerful enough at 1/4 throttle!

Re: AWS 37- Reading- 17th March 2012

Thanks to everyone for making AWS37 such an enjoyable day, in particular Will for the great organisation and everyone who organised the venue & arena etc. Was nice to meet up with those that I met at Bristol last time and also the guys that couldn't make it to the last event. Spyro was much more...

Re: New Roboteer!

cool thanks Jim, I guess I'll just experiment and see what gives the best results once I have something resembling a chassis. This'll be for the second of two robots if I get a chance to build it before the AWS.....running out of time!!!

Re: New Roboteer!

I'm running them off a 6V nimh, I'm assuming that's what the PWM pulses from the servo boards are too. Thanks Peter, that makes sense, I've ordered a couple of 540rpm ones as well to have a play around with as for the moment I'll be sticking with 6V. Hopefully will have at least one new ant by AWS37.

Re: New Roboteer!

Thanks Dave, yes they're the cheap ones from ebay. Having said that the motors could well be going 300RPM and I'm just used to the speed of speed hacked servos so I don't want to do the motors an injustice if they are in fact performing to spec. Looking at my servo driven ant, it seems to move at ab...
