Re: T_Y's Build Log

Maybe try to reroute the power to the servo, add some more decoupling capacitors on the mcu power supply, if you have space/weight.

I think you can't go much wrong with a 10uF cap on the Arduino, which is probably much bigger than the built-in one

Re: Water Bots - Floaters

Are liquid (water cannon) weapons allowed, given that it's in water anyway? Maximum battery voltage for Antweights is 24v according to the AWS rules. Max for all classes is 50v DC according to FRA. Even 50v is unlikely to cause any real harm to someone who gets their fingers wet and stuck across the...

Re: Team BLEEP build diary

Why not use the charge plug to power your robot, and tie (or cut) off the discharge connector? I don't know how much current the 2S packs charge plugs are rated for, but I guess it's probably enough to run an Antweight, especially if it's not a spinner. I certainly considered doing this, it would sa...

Re: Antweight World Series 58 - 29th June 2019

Great - it was super last time.

For anyone who wants to come by train- bring your bicycle - there is a really nice cycle path from Rugby station to the venue, I cycled there last year and it was very nice indeed.

Looking forward to it.

Re: AWS 57 (February 2019)

Well many of the fights will last less than 1 minute, the trick is to optimise the time between fights, not the fights themselves. Changing the maximum time makes little difference because hardly any bouts last that long anyway. The trick is, based on my limited experience, to give competitors a wel...

Re: Wiring N20 motor terminals

Maybe we should design (as a community) a more compact version of the Pimoroni one. I quite like the concept, but the side-mounted 0.1" right angle header seems less-than ideal. Perhaps a small surfce mount connector which can go right on the back of the motor? Right-angle or straight? I'm thin...

Re: AgoBros team, new member on the platform

Quick question on the rules, If a bot is damaged during an event, can I replace the body or other parts between battles? That is where things get metaphysical :) - see the Ship of Theseus - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus Personally I'd say it's ok even if not "in the spirit"...

Re: AgoBros team, new member on the platform

Well, I suggest either: - Easy way: Buy a more expensive servo, which will be more powerful and tolerate higher voltage; run it on battery voltage (e.g. 2S lipo) not the 5v from ESC /BEC. - Hard way: run the flipper from a suitable N20 gear-motor, you will need another ESC and the controls will be d...

Re: AWS rule polls 2019

My robot only fitted into the Ant Freeze cube with the acetate slightly bent, I think the cube was a tad on the small side.
