Re: Basic Flipper Hinge Question

I tend to use a 2 or 3 mm diam carbon fiber rod right across the robot and hang the flipper on that. You can get short bits on ebay quite cheap. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARBON-FIBRE-PUSH-RODS-4-x-PIECES-2mm-x-100mm-10cms/391928437447?hash=item5b40c15ac7:g:xygAAOSwirZTtBOB If you have weight to sp...

Re: The smart ant's and flea's

I was surprised how much smoother a 3 cam system was over a 2 cam allowing more speed and less bounce.

Taking it to 4 seems to add even better results

Re: GeorgeR's robots

That is a brilliant robot and probably the most original but not quite the first walker to win an AWS.
Mutant won in 2004 at AWS15 but there were far less robots to beat back then

Re: Coping with the demand (An EO's perspective)

I don't think the spinner extra charge is really warranted. I have been using my present arena for about 4 years now and although I have had to fill and repaint the base after each competition this is the first time I have had to get a new wooden surface and replace the polycarb wall around the outs...

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings

I fitted the new controller in my old Flippant which had died.
It ran faster than on the old controller and actually ended up being my most successful entry in AWS58.
Very pleased with how it ran.

Re: Coping with the demand (An EO's perspective)

Personally I would do the following. 1 A £5 entry per robot, this would not only raise £640 for full entry but make people think more about there entries. 2 Limit teams to two rollers and a cluster / walker to still encourage diversity. 3 Add a second arena if you run the groups one at a time (maybe...

Thanks to Chris and his team for a great event as usual.
I had a great time and can't quite believe how you managed to get through all those fights so smoothly.

Re: Antweight World Series 58 - 29th June 2019

Dan I was worried there had been a big discussion I had either missed or forgotten and was loosing my marbles.
My memory is not what it once was and it was never that good to start with.

Re: Antweight World Series 58 - 29th June 2019

When was that decided and by who I thought as Dan offered to host the AWS as far as I knew first he would get it.
