Re: Servos as speed controllers and cheapo 9g gear motors!
I've used SG90 boards driving those chinese 540RPM gearmotors you list in your first post in the past off a 6V battery. They work, but the lifespan of the boards is questionable since they already run pretty warm with the smaller motor in the stock SG90. I've had one board fail in the last few month...

Re: Building an Ant as a present.
Yes that's the transmitter. I think you'll need the USB interface in order to connect to your PC, but that's only a few dollars and saves the weight of a mixer in the robot. I use 540RPM motors on around 20mm wheels off a 2S lipo and would say that gives reasonable speed (felt a little slow compared...

Re: Building an Ant as a present.
Welcome to the forum and nice idea for a present! As you've already found, AAs are really not suitable for an ant which is going to be somewhere near the 150g weight limit. I use 6V 120mAh nimh batteries in a couple of my ants from the following site http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html/small_packs....

Re: What range of pulses does an RX31 reciever output
Thanks for the info Andy. I've used 4 & 6 channel Orange RXs and my results were very similar 1.112->1.908ms. I'm not sure on the accuracy since I used a simple logic tool rather than a scope but the results were repeatable (whether they were wrong or right...) This leaves me with a centre posit...

Re: AWS 39 - Coventry - November 3rd, 2012
Thanks to Scott and Andy, all your preparation and hard work on the day certainly paid off and made for an excellently organised and successful event. Congratulations to the two Daves on their wins. Was great to see the usual faces again and also nice to see some new faces also. I think the larger a...

Re: SG90s as drive servos?
Welcome! I've used speedhacked SG90s in the past and they work reasonably well as a low cost solution, but I think they would be too slow with the standard gearing with anything but massive wheels. They're certainly useable as a lifter, though I recommend for a few grams more upgrading to the more p...

Thanks Peter, they actually started to stock them after I contacted them to see if they could get them in for me. Superb service can't recommend them enough!

No mixing I'm afraid. They do have dual rates though which I didn't realise until recently.

Re: LiPo Charger
Hi Tom, welcome to the forum. Good find with the charger, looks good value. I'd also buy a lipo bag to store your lipos in if you haven't already just to be on the safe side. I've never had a problem but you can never be too careful. One thing you want to avoid when not using low voltage detection i...

Re: :Wanted:
Hi Dave, I don't have one for sale myself but the model number you're after is MLP4DSM. They're sold under Blade, hobbyzone, Eflite and parkzone brands but I believe they're all the same and are DSM2 compatible. They crop up on ebay all the time so keep your eyes peeled. There's some parkzone ones o...
