yeah, Oliver has a very good point-iirc, product safety is a section of the GCSE paperwork, and having a spinning disc does compromise this somewhat. The disc never made the final project with my A-level, due to technical issues (everything went wrong, lol)

for my A-level, i did a test of disc profiles. I had one with loads of teeth, but it tended to just jam in things. The most successful one was one where i attached the teeth separately, and they were made out of a heavier metal than the rest of the disc. avoid spinning bars-they're complete rubbish ...

Nemesis-also try looking at slitting saw blades. they were recommended by my DT teacher, and after seeing a few, they are quite impressive. Your blades sound quite cool though.

Esky servos are good-only about a fiver each and only weigh 8g. Make sure you get more than you need though-they do burn out fairly easily (apparently at random-maybe i just got a couple of dodgy ones :S). For a Reciever, look in the Q&A thread-there was a topic fairly recently about the replace...

i'll be at uni then, so i'll be far nearer London than i am now (about half way there compared to now) so i might be able to make it. Are we saying non-spinner, or are we going no-holds barred? If school let me, i'm gonna make an arena next week-beats being stuck at home, lol

i blew up my lego technic motor by putting 18V through it (two 9V batteris in series). I use my technic in my ants now. I too always wanted Mindstorms, but never got it :(
