I also finished the design for Stanley.
It will have 0.5mm titanium on the front.

Team Shakey Build Diary
I decided to put up a build diary of all of my robot building. To kick it off I spent today designing Accelerant a new chassis. This is because a friend has vowed to build an antweight better than mine which wasn't exactly difficult with wonkiness of the previous version. Hopefully this is more of a...

Re: Discussions from the last AWS
What we need is to make the rule with the least amount of opinion involved. I can't remember now but there was a recent example where one robot was counted out where another wasn't. The 'is it controlled' relies on opinion far too much to be a fair rule in the long run. The 'only one wheel' is stric...

Re: Discussions from the last AWS
I think a robot should only be counted out if it has no ability to move at all. A spinner with one wheel can still turn and hit you, flipper can flip. If a robot truly has no controlled movement then they will end up out the arena or the battle will time out and the other robot judged the winner.

That stuff isn't exactly cheap though, you can pick up a larger tin for less of black primer/matt/gloss in halfords and it works just as well.Craig_Anto3 wrote:1 coat of Chaos Black from Games Workshop will do ya

Does anyone know if there is a model of the motor mounts available to download, I need it to help sizing my model.

Re: thickest armour in an antweight?
All this talk of this thing you call armour? All accelerant has is 0.5mm ti for the battery and a strip of electrical tape for the reciever and speed controller. And a 1mm ti plate right at the end of the flipper after that... nothing.

Re: Cheap antweight kits
That must be old as you can pick up a 2.5ghz for under £30 nowadays. Just off the top of my head you can use el cheapo DSM2 receivers for about £15 and there is a controller that runs with them for about £25 maybe less? Hacked servos can be used for drive and they can be picked up very cheaply. I do...

Re: thickest armour in an antweight?
To be honest 10mm HDPE should be enough to take the hit of a spinner provided it is secured well. Though that thickness is madness to me. I can make an overweight robot without even having armour *glares at accelerant*. Though I am probably being sabotaged....
