Re: my robot is working fine but smoking gently

This seems bad. One of my robot runs 4 HP motors at 12V on a sabertooth and it is relatively cool after a good 5 minute drive.

Smoking = very bad, you need the magic smoke to stay in the chips! :D

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary

I just hooked up the red motor and a 3cell together and there is a very noticable improvement over the other gold motor.

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary

I still need to do some fiddling around and have a look. But the 3 cell is great, much faster.

Though can you get away without balance charging a 3cell?

EDIT: Stanley is 135 grams with the new battery so plenty left for armour.

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary

I managed to wrestle all the unnecessary stuff of the sabertooth, nearly killed it though as I accidentally removed a small track but I managed to put a wire in its place. Stanley now weighs 136grams so I will armour him with a small front plate of 0.5mm titanium. I will go back and look to try and ...

Also That is one of the 6ch DSM2 receivers, I might swap it for a 4CH one I got today (in the spinner picture). Thanks for the suggestions, Also that's the plan - Insane power. I wanted 6WD through gears...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary

So after a long delay my shapeways chassis finally arrived! I must say for a first attempt accelerant turned out fantastic, I love it. Stanley has a slight problem with the front two bolt holes for the motor mounts though. Accelerant feels so fragile but is surprisingly tough and the flipper arm doe...

Re: Clusterbot rules

Do you mean to add something so say that the roller must have a maximum weight of: 150g - whatever the bonus is for the number of walker botlets. So with 2 walker botlets and a roller the total robot weight is 200g, but the roller can only be 100g. It stops the walker bonus being used to give an 'ov...
