Re: Walker rule clarification? Unusual design.
@Antroboteer Thanks Dave, not meant to be a definitive opinion; agreed I could have worded that better. Thanks for pointing that out. Some great comments have been posted and I think it has been agreed the rule isn't clear and is open to interpretation. Therefore, I guess what I am trying to say th...

Re: Walker rule clarification? Unusual design.
it simply should not get the extra wight because a bristle bot mechanism would require less wight than just having wheels. even with a 2 sided system to have control, a tiny offset wight on a small fast motor and a tooth brush head seems like less wight and less effort than putting wheels on the en...

Re: Walker rule clarification? Unusual design.
The final output would be the contact surface with the arena. Wheels are the contact surface of any roller and rotate more than 360 degrees. Legs are the contact surface of most walkers and they rarely rotate, merely move up and down (although you could class as an approx 90 degree movement of the f...

Re: Walker rule clarification? Unusual design.
Without the bristles in that scenario, there would be no movement from the robot; the bristles are the moving legs. It's like saying walkers like Drumbledore aren't walkers because they use a motor which rotates more than 180 degrees spinning a cam shaft which would not make sense. I would classify ...

All looks fantastic Pete! Looking forward to seeing that drum spinner. Has it got a name yet and will it feature at the AWS?

Re: Rule Debates
As far as the judges are concerned, I personally feel that this aspect has been handled really well recently. Especially at AWS 54, the judges/arena marshalls only had one robot each and were therefore able to watch all of the fights. It's actually been a very good experience from that perspective. ...

Re: Rule Debates
The only fights that go the 3 minutes need the 3 minutes and the other fights are not impacted by keeping the time frame the same because, as stated, most fights rarely go the 3 minutes. The 2 minute fight limit would have quite a few adverse effects. I would propose clear judging criteria (document...

Re: Rule Debates
The two minute fight concept would not be ideal in the current robot climate. An example is the following (I know I am focussing more on spinners but I believe there are of course going to be other cases, just these are really game changing): Currently we have spinners which, while deadly for ~1.5 -...
