Snibston 27th December 2011

Dave Weston has arranged for an antweight competition to take place at Snibston after Christmas for the third year. Details of the location are at the link above, Last year we also got free entry to the museum and there's a nice cafe there as well. FRA forum topic at http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/...

Re: Metrication of the rules

As it doesn't really make a difference (except to those who are interested in this one) Why don't we have a vote on this thread. I'm not going to vote here, because I have no preference, but shall we say that the voting choices are (and this is an example - the other dimensions would follow on from ...

Re: Rule 2b: Robot size limits

Well I just like the four inch rule, I suppose a large robot being "ditch proof" is also a concern. I never had a problem with building to the cube, part of engineering is designing within your limits.

No issue
5f) There shall be 3 neutral judges identified before each battle and all shall have an equal vote.

Re: Metrication of the rules

Also, as Gary has implied, the metrification of the rules should also logically cover arena size and pressure limits.

Yes, so a judges decision here, and no need for an extra rule.

Re: New Rule: Robot leaves arena before contact made

I think that Gary is spot on - new rule should state

"If a robot leaves the arena after the battle has started but before the the robots have made contact then the judges shall decide if the battle is to be restarted"

Re: Rule wish list

I'm not sure that deciding about rules from the point of view of someone wanting to encourage a particular type of robot is a good idea, it's more likely to lead to unintended consequences. Who thought the current cluster rule would lead to mini cars running about the arena? Who thought that the all...
