Re: Work in Progress preview: An(t) Object to be Destroyed

All wired up and ready to go! https://i.imgur.com/6Tf251t.jpg Battery compartment is a little tighter than I'd like, but thanks to my practice of snipping off the discharge leads and only using the balance plug, it will just fit. https://i.imgur.com/vOsz27r.jpg Weight-wise, everything is fine - 111g...

Re: Work in Progress preview: An(t) Object to be Destroyed

Second-time lucky - reduced the printing speed and this time it worked fine. Here it is with the N10 motors slotted into place. https://i.imgur.com/dUpIrLQ.jpg Next step is to print the two top-plates, then I'll sort out some electronics. Pleasantly surprised at how well the CF Nylon takes a thread....

Re: Work in Progress preview: An(t) Object to be Destroyed

Arrrrrgggggh!!! Ruined print. Major Y-axis offset about 4mm from the top layer. 7 hours printing time and 5 quids worth of filament wasted. Oh well, try again tomorrow. On the plus side i got to practice removing from the support layer. All OK except that big flat expanse in the base. Even wi...

Team Antiquarian - Work in Progress

Decided it was time to retire PolycarbonAnt and replace him with a more easily maintained and less scruffy version of the same basic 4wd parallelogram-sectioned / invertible pusher design. Might be a bit old-fashioned but being a lousy driver, I appreciate not having to think too hard when an ant's ...

Re: The smart ant's and flea's

Excellent work Lincoln. Looking forward to trying one of these with the little OrangeRx R614XN (which is a similar size). My standard set-up using a pair of digital servo boards is probably about the same in terms of PCB area but the need to splice multiple leads to get Vcc & Gnd to both boards ...

*Sigh* If only Mark would make a DSM version for those of us already wedded to Spectrum TXs...

Re: Eddie J - DisinfectANT, Kinnettic Disassembly, Cilit BANG

Those are the ones I used for the Spin Twins. Lovely little motors but be careful not to run them stalled - the wires are rather thin!

Re: Eddie J - DisinfectANT , Cilit BANG, Kinnettic Disassembly

If Rolex made Antweights... Certainly a thing of beauty. Now you just need to get some driving practice. Sounds extreme but if you don't have a full size enclosed arena, might be worth making a second weapon of the same weight/dimensions but without teeth - just a smooth ring. That way you can safel...

Re: Team Ions build diary

Personally I wouldn't risk buying cheap imported/unbranded LiPOs, even if they were shippable. Too much of a potential fire hazard. AFAIK, Hobbyking are now only doing the 2S 180mah nano-tech (standard power pack inside a large proportion of UK ants) with a funny little 2-pin Molex 'E-Flite' (?) dis...
