Thanks Harry! The speed at which you gets these up always impresses me.

Re: EDFs

I feel the need to point out that Vacuum, Succulant, and any other robot that worked by evacuating a sealed chamber underneath the robot in order to gain downforce are massively different to those using an EDF. Vacuums have a specific, exploitable weakness that EDFs do not have, which is that if you...

Re: EDFs

Yeah Dave, I realise that, but as we've already been looking at changing arena designs to balance things out (which I think has been successful, although we could still go further) I didn't want to include that in this discussion. We've only seen EDFs in pushers so far, but there's no reason you cou...

Re: EDFs

If people disagree with me on this, that is honestly fine. I didn't make this thread so I could say "BAN ALL EDFS BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE THEM". I made the thread to start a discussion. My issue is that people seem to either be misunderstanding or ignoring the points that I actually raise, an...

Re: New antweight fighter

My issue is that I don't feel like you should ever feel that you have to have a specific bot just to beat a specific other type of bot, which is exactly what is happening here. That said I do of course enjoy innovation and as such I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Re: EDFs

We were all newcomers once; some of us found success quickly, some of us took many, many years before we got there. Yes, I find a lot of success now, but it took me 9 years to get my first AWS win. There was a large period of time where I barely ever even made it out of groups. I would never want to...

Re: EDFs

This is a hobby. It's also a competition. Maybe some of us want to enjoy the hobby, but also want to win. Maybe we turn up to events to have fun, but equally want a fair and balanced competition in which to compete. Maybe we love building robots and fighting them whether we win or lose, but we don't...

Re: Arena Discussions

To throw more ideas into the melting pot of configurations, how about having two of the pits in their square configuration, but have a wall along one of the sides to reduce the angles at which you can approach it? Also, what did people think of the height of the walls? They're a good deal lower than...

Re: A new antweighter (again!)

It specifically says in the specifications:

"Input voltage: 1-2S Lithium batteries"

So that's a no.

Re: Arena Discussions

Thanks again for bringing the arena Pete. It was a big step forwards from what we had used in the past and I think the design overall worked very well. However, I think the biggest issue with this kind of pit design is the angles from which the pit is accessible. While the pits were in general much ...
