Re: Brushless motors
Yeah, I definitely suspect the battery is the culprit in this case, those 180mah ones will struggle in a spinner, especially with a powerful motor like that 2204. I use the 260mah 35c ones in Vampire and Valkyrie, and a 300mah 45c in RBMK. Despite the higher power lipos Valkyrie is the only one I ca...

Re: Brushless motors
Short answer - yes and yes. It's a common issue, but with the right setup you can get a very quick spin-up. There are two issues in play here; the first is that brushless motors can draw a huge amount of current at low speeds, and the small batteries used in ants can struggle to provide this current...

Re: Botbitz 10 amp ESCs for weapon
I'd say the botbitz 10a is definitely on the large side. If you're looking for a single channel esc the fingertech tinyesc, or the Vex 29 are much better choices. I use the vex to drive my axebot weapon motors and it's worked great.

Re: AWS rule polls 2019
All looks good to me.
Probably a good call to write down the rule regarding the aggressor winning in the event of both bots entering the pit together.

Re: GeorgeR's robots
Just want to say, your robots are really neat, I love the aesthetics of them - particularly Valkyrie and RBMK. I don't think I've seen any other robot quite like this one! Many thanks, I'm glad you like them. Personally I'd much rather build something different and interesting than just go all out ...

Re: GeorgeR's robots
If you want more torque (I guess you mean on initial spin-up) you would almost certainly be better off looking at your esc and its settings, or possibly the battery - any decent sized brushless should have more than enough.

Re: GeorgeR's robots
What brush less motor do you use on vampire? I use the LeTodar 2204 on both Vampire and RBMK. It's stupidly robust (5mm shaft!) and has a good selection of threaded holes to mount blades. It is a bit on the big/heavy side though - 28mm diameter, 20mm tall, 28g. I like them because they're cheap (£7...

Re: AWS 57 (February 2019)
Many thanks to Richard (and everybody else who helped) for running a great event, it ran very smoothly despite the large number of robots. The AWS results were... 1st - Doktor Power 9 Ti 2nd - Boink 3rd - I Can't Believe It's Not Stanley Congratulations to Team Effort on a well deserved first AWS vi...

Re: Fishy Electronics - DisinfectANT , Cilit BANG
That looks fantastically mad, I love it. Are you coming along to the AWS in a couple of weeks? It'd be good to see them in action.

Re: AWS rule polls 2019
I'm pretty sure that the issues regarding walkers etc will be addressed in future rule votes. These are just the first lot of changes, with more to come later.
