Re: Malenki-ESC open source Antweight ESC

Yes, there is only one signal wire. Drones commonly use this, the signal wire speaks one of several commonly used protocols, either CPPM (which is several PWM signals multiplexed in time) or one of the serial bus protocols S-Bus or i-bus. It allows more channels with fewer wires. I can incorporate m...

Re: Pink servo??

Yes, definitely don't power a servo through the 5v from the Dasmikro's regulator. I would make up a "Y" cable, with a battery connector on one end, to drive the Dasmikro on one leg and the servo on the other leg. Then you can connect the single wire for the servo pulses to the correct chan...

Re: Pink servo??

I assume you use the Dasmikro to drive brushed motors, not the servo. If the Dasmikro cuts out, it's possibly due to voltage drop during the high current of the flip. I don't really think this is Dasmikro's fault (I have not had great success with Dasmikro but I am defending it on this occasion). Th...

Re: Malenki-ESC open source Antweight ESC

Another update: * Firmware is mostly working, it reads PPM, ibus or S-Bus and will autodetect (there is only one rx pin) I intend to build a robot with it shortly to see if it will actually bot :) Here is a size comparison, left to right: £1, DasMikro2S6A (2-channel), Malenki-ESC (3-channel), €1 htt...

Re: Malenki-ESC open source Antweight ESC

Update: What works/ is done: * The motor drivers work. I've tested it with a spare N20 and it can drive it with no problem at variable speed in both directions. * Tank-mixing * The receiver can automatically decode PPM signals or ibus (Turnigy) * I wrote some end-user documentation What is still TOD...

Re: Malenki-ESC open source Antweight ESC

Now I have a strange issue. I've got the ESC working and decoding PPM signals. They seem to work ok, my receivers will stop sending pulses when they lose signal, and after a short time then we turn the motors off (as you'd expect) to implement failsafe. I'm now working on supporting serial protocols...

Re: Possible escs ?

Looks plausible, but the description is light on details. Specifically, it has only one (yellow) wire shown to interface to the receiver, without any suggestion of whether this is PPM (combined signal), or something else e.g. S-Bus or I-Bus. I'm guessing it's PPM, because on my RXs the PPM is usuall...

Re: What is it with Americans and imperial units?

Unfortunately things get really difficult when you start doing PCB design. A lot of components are traditionally pitched in inches. Popular pin pitch is 2.54mm and 1.27mm (1/10 and 1/20 inch). Also, there is a copper thickness standard called "1oz". I have no idea what that even means, but...

Re: Pre modded servo boards for escs?

Yes, I upgraded the firmware via the usb cable, and that added some new options on the menu. NB: this has a touchscreen. Inside nothing much seems hand-soldered, there are a lot of small connectors. It is obviously cheap but quite well thought out and the gimbals feel ok. some features are a bit gim...

Re: Pre modded servo boards for escs?

I just bought a Turnigy Evolution (Also Flysky protocol), I really like the design of the tx, it's like a game controller. They are very good value. Unfortunately it arrived totally dead, and it wouldn't charge. HK have promised to send a replacement. They didn't want the old one returned, so I open...
