Re: Arena Discussions
Interesting developments. I'm definitely not telling you what you should do Peter, just giving more suggestions, but you could also consider only having two pits (could put diagonal walls in the other two to get around your dislike of corners), which might give you more options as to what you can do...

Re: Arena Discussions
Looking good peter! You're right that those pits do look bigger in real life than they did in the diagram, but we'll have to wait and see how they turn out. If you're still intending to have some small walls on the corners to prevent wall-sliding, that will contribute a lot to making the actual drop...

Re: New Anticide
I don't want to discourage you from doing something new, exciting, and educational, just making sure you're aware of the risks involved .

Re: New Anticide
While it's no more expensive, it's definitely more difficult and there is also an element of danger to be considered. As you saw in my thread when I was building Flux, pneumatic components can fail with explosive results. If it's not something you have any experience with, definitely seek help from ...

Re: Dominance of pushers at AWS46
That diagram confused the hell out of me until I realise that the corner of the arena was in the top left. I think, as Dave has said, we should be willing to try new things at an AWS and see what happens. It's not like once you've built the arena it can never be modified; things like adding or remov...

Re: Dominance of pushers at AWS46
That sounds like a really good idea. It's impossible to know without testing it in an event, but it sounds like with those extra walls at the sides of the pits it'll tick all the boxes. I'm interested to hear other's opinions.

Re: Dominance of pushers at AWS46
That looks like a good design Peter, and is a lot better than many of our current designs (although I personally still prefer a little less drop off than it looks like you have there), however in my eyes it has one main problem, which is that it's possible for a pusher to just slide their opponent d...
Re: Apologies
Don't be a big silly face, you don't have to apologise. You didn't say anything untoward.

Re: TinyTwo Speed Controllers
I'm still a bit on the fence about it. 2s is easier; you don't need a voltage reg, you motors will run cooler, you'll consume less current, you need less weight/space for the batteries. And the extra power is usually wasted because it's almost impossible to stall a Pololu HP in an ant. That said, Th...
