Re: GeorgeR's robots

Quick pre-AWS update, and the main news is a new chassis for Vampire... https://i.imgur.com/I7hB4YKl.jpg The old one was looking a bit worse for wear (I counted over 60 hits on the armour!), and there were a couple of issues I wanted to address. The new chassis is wider and lower, this allows it mor...

Re: MichaelG92's Build Diaries

Which wires would need to touch for a short circuit? Red touching black? Yep, specifically I was referring to the red and black wires that aren't connected to anything in the above picture, if they touched it could burn out the driver chip. In future it's good practice to tape over bare disconnecte...

Re: MichaelG92's Build Diaries

I'm pretty sure the damaged chip is one of the motor drivers, so I'd suspect a short on the motor wires. Either the two unused motor wires touched momentarily, or maybe it's shorted at the bottom left motor (with 4 wires attached).

Re: ESC battery and motor paring

The first question here is are these brushed or brushless motors? Because if they are brushless you will need a separate esc for each motor. Secondly, yes this sounds like major overkill, even though the motors may be rated for 16a they won't draw that much current for more than a fraction of a seco...

Re: AWS 59 -21st September 2019

Sounds great. I'll definitely be there attempting to defend the title.

Any news on whether it will be 3 or 4 entries per team? Or will it depend on numbers?

Or is it a super trade secret?
It's a 4 way cam system, there's a pic at the bottom of page 3 of this thread. Amazing how quick it is really.

Re: GeorgeR's robots

That is a brilliant robot and probably the most original but not quite the first walker to win an AWS. Mutant won in 2004 at AWS15 but there were far less robots to beat back then http://www.antweight.co.uk/results/ws15/ws15.htm I stand corrected, someone told me it was the first, but I guess they ...

Re: GeorgeR's robots

AWS 58 Well, AWS 58 proved very successful for Team Zero, and much to my surprise I’m now an AWS winner! Six months ago RBMK was no more than a mad idea in my head that I was less than 50% sure would even work at all, and now it’s the champion of an event that is normally dominated by wedges, flipp...
