Re: Cutting Polycarbonate sheet on budget CNC router

I cut my polycarb on a CNC, use a 1 or 2 flute bit and it cuts well. Also the dust is harmful to your lungs and so you want good extraction when cutting with powertools. Worth noting that a CNC can not cut sharp corners on internal cuts. Since the cutter is a cylinder. The best i have managed is 1mm...

Re: Eddie J - DisinfectANT , Cilit BANG, Halo

Nurrrghh ok im taking a break CilitBANG for now. Need something simpler for a bit. I got on and did one of the axels for the legs. There is the cam shaft to make which is going to be a real feat ... Lathing something 2mm thick and so long takes lots of patience https://i.ibb.co/Kh8CdfV/IMG-20191117-...

Re: Calculating Rotational Kinetic Energy?

Yea I think you are right, Im going to try and work out a better value for taking into account the multiple materials. Since some of the 9mm handguns are around that kind of J rating. :? Not sure if it's going to be a competition bot yet, or just something for whiteboards. Will have something more r...

Re: Calculating Rotational Kinetic Energy?

Thanks George, you are a robotics saint :D A bit of an estimate, but here is what i think is correct. Motor KV is 2700KV on 11.1V - rounding down because that is no load values. So 2500 x 11 = 27500 RPM 27500 / 60 = 458 (rounding down) x 6.28 = 2876 so W = 2876 MOI is bringing tears to my eyes >.< g...

Calculating Rotational Kinetic Energy?

How do we go about it? My maths is a bit basic, but I remember linear kinetic energy is

KE= 1/2 M x V ^2
M=Mass
V=Velocity

But I was trying to calculate better numbers for a spinning bar using rotational kinetic energy.
Does any numbers guru have advice on this?
Thanks!

Re: T_Y's Build Log

Quick update, HYTTIOAOA is now complete, aside from the aluminium wedge. For that, I'm waiting for the aluminium servo horn to arrive (should be soon), as the plastic one currently attached is slightly shorter. In the meantime, I've been procrastinating about the mechanum wheel bot. While browsing ...

Re: Eddie J - DisinfectANT , Cilit BANG

If that thing goes against a horizontal spinner, that thing will be mangled. Looks like a beautiful antweight! Amazing, how it isn't over weight Probably! :lol: But with the alu front plate on, it will take a few hits. First hit, one of the bots is going to be out the arena anyway :P Just would be ...

Re: T_Y's Build Log

Yea to fit 3mm shafts and 23mm diameter, will lock to axel - i would have liked smaller but each roller has to have a M1 axle, and making any smaller rollers and they will have next to 0 grip. Have it roughed out at the moment, I will finish it off by blending all the elements together, making the s...

Re: T_Y's Build Log

Do you want some mechanum wheels? I designed some antweight ones for another over complex project, but haven't got around to building anything yet.
Can cast you an extra set if you dont mind covering postage cost? :)

Re: Eddie J - DisinfectANT , Cilit BANG

:D Thanks! It's more of thing of beauty, than it is competitive. But I just hope it will work and not implode itself like the Deep 6 test footage!
Next time... I will make something competitive for sure! :lol:
Hope to be bringing it to a few end of this year or start of next
