Re: TinyTwo Speed Controllers

The positive side of the supply is fine; the zener's doing a fine job, and I've tried running servos off the 6V rail, and even when it's stalled on a 3 cell LIPO the voltage doesn't drop (does get very warm though!). You get a short 8 volt peak when one of my servos turns which isn't ideal, but it h...

Re: TinyTwo Speed Controllers

Thanks for the advice :) It's not the servo though (yet..); this was just running it with motors and an Rx. I checked the regulator output and it was smooth as ever.. same with the outputs of the PIC to the driver chips. It seems to be capacitively or inductively coupling straight to the servo wires...

Re: TinyTwo Speed Controllers

I'll look into it :L What current rating are the beetle weight motors? If anyone has any specs they'd like to see in a speed controller, feel free to suggest it. Not saying i'd make one for every spec, but just want to try and get a better idea of what people are looking for so I can make something ...

Re: TinyTwo Speed Controllers

@Duff, the one you're getting has also been conscripted into service for the AWS, so you may have to wait a bit while I extract it from one of my robots after the event :P

*EDIT* whoops, that was meant to be an edit not a double post! :-?

Re: TinyTwo Speed Controllers

Yeah sure; as I've said I've got a few designs in mind, so it would be good to try and get an idea of the sort of specs people are after...

Re: TinyTwo Speed Controllers

Sadly all four are now spoken for... I had planned to get a whole bunch ready in time for the AWS when I originally started this project, but I barely have 4 as it is :L They're still largely untested, and the tests I have done show waay too much noise being coupled onto the servo data wires, causin...

Re: Team Shock's Build Diary

Got a feeling I'm gonna be pulling an all nighter tonight; Got coursework to get finished AND THEN firmware to write for those ESCs :P Hope it works; that thing's looking good! :L

Re: TinyTwo Speed Controllers

I now have 4 NanoTwo HPs, all of which have already been conscripted into service for Saturday! http://i.imgur.com/lSZ0BAg.jpg?1 Having made a few tweaks and adjusted the firmware, they now run pretty stably off a 2 cell lipo; had one with a 180mAh 2 cell run both Tinny's motors at full speed for an...

Re: TinyTwo Speed Controllers

Nah, it has to have a voltage reg of some form on there to drive the PIC chip :L If it's only for self righting then the 5V Reg should be fine; I've used it with Lionel's 2Kg/cm servo before, and it can happily flip robots with that. If I can ensure that the 6V rail is stable enough with a servo, i'...
