I am 15 mins from Cambridge which would be a great place for an event. You wouldn't want to go near Norwich, it's hard controlling a robot with 6 fingers and a pitch fork...LOL.
I believe the one in Nuneaton is less than 2hrs away so I may venture over in the new year.

Tamiya Rising Fighter or .......
I am looking to by my son (me) his first rc car for Christmas. Having started building an ant weight I have a 2.4Ghz Spectrum Dx5 and Orange RX with a Sky 100-4500 mAh lipo charger that I want to make use of. If I buy a starter RC kit like the Tamiya Rising Fighter will these parts be of use? http:/...

Re: SAW-US, A Build Diary
Thanks Haz' much appreciated. We (my son and I) couldn't make the event today as we live in East Anglia. We are looking out to attend our first event if something more local comes up in the new year. I have decided to lose the flipper for now and this makes my batteries more suitable. After watching...

Re: SAW-US, A Build Diary
Having looked at the robot in an actual picture, there are several things you can do (if you are willing) that would save you 23g straight off the bat without hampering its performance in any way: Heatsink plate from the sabretooth: 5g - not required at this weight level Terminal Blocks: 3g each, 4...

Re: SAW-US, A Build Diary
Thanks for the input, it may not be a problem when it comes to competition. The batteries last around 15-20mins with no problem and this is with my son going overkill with the flipper. With a round lasting 5mins I guess I just need to bring a spare set.

Re: SAW-US, A Build Diary
In order to diagnose the problem you may have to take a few steps backwards. Is your battery fully charged? If you disconnect the servo completely does the robot behave? Even if you twiddle the left stick? If you connect the servo to the receiver in the normal way (all 3 wires) do the motors behave...

Re: New B: A Build Diary
I have decided to amend the title of this post to "A Build Diary", this way I can keep all the posts in one place and anyone interested can follow. Saw-Us is now at prototype MK2. I have ordered and received my weapon servo, a GWS PARK HPX F, after reading a recommendation. Lucky thing was...
