Re: Thetopcat's build log

Cheers, Rory, will probably look to some of those at some point in the future... in the meantime I've ordered enough bits and pieces to get a couple of bits built... just gotta hurry up and wait for now!

Re: Thetopcat's build log

They look pretty damned good! How much are the full flea kits, Rory? I'm assuming the Lemon Rx is DSM2/X compatible?

Any multi-buy discount?

Re: Thetopcat's build log

Thanks, Joey! Will have a look for more info on the ESCs then, for now your idea of keeping the pot is a good shout, but will probably look into what resistors are required to make things neater/lighter... On the steering front, I was turning the Tx 45 degrees and felt not only silly, but also found...

Re: Thetopcat's build log

Well, this feels like threadro-mancy, but it is my build log after all! After such a long time, I have finally found myself with enough time and pocket-money from the missus to dedicate some time to this again! Having dusted off all the stuff I'd kept from years ago, I've been through the inventory ...

Re: Thetopcat's build log

Well, I got it all assembled on a chassis, but as you rightly pointed out, haz, it was rather lacking in drive... Will try a new over the weekend and see what I can come up with...

Re: Thetopcat's build log

3 reasons:

-1 stripped its gears
-The other had a superglue mishap in my first attempt at speed hacking
-I'm too tight fisted to throw something away that can still be used to botch something together

Actually works out ok, it still drives fine and is now narrower, so I don't mind tbh...

Re: Thetopcat's build log

Gotta love duct tape... Ever see the Mythbusters episodes? They made a boat out of duct tape!

Anyway, today I have mostly been cutting down on wiring:

Need to order up some 1 & 2mm hdpe and a switch next...

Re: Thetopcat's build log

Haha, well then maybe I should take a leap! Any particular tape that's spinner-proof? I've linked in a servo on the throttle stick for a flipper now, so the internals are all there (though a switch and charge link would be nice). Just need to assemble a chassis and body. Question: using towerpro sg9...

Re: Thetopcat's build log

Thanks guys! Haz: I've got it setup on a single analogue stick with each axis controlling a wheel (so to go straight forward, you push up and left)... it doesn't really like going in a straight line, but it does like to spin! Dave26: it's far from competitive, this was more a sort of proof of concep...

Thetopcat's build log

Thought it best to start my own thread for this, but planning on putting together a couple of fleaweights to find my feet in combat robots... So after getting the final bits through today, I threw a few things together and got something working! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QodoAZwgLtg In case yo...
