personally i would use TIG welding electrodes, they are nearly pure tungsten, and come in 1 to 4mm diameter, they are also quite cheap :-)
Can be ground to a nice sharp point, they are hard as hell and hard to bend.

large amount of stainless steel sheet for sale

i have a few sheets of 1.5mm stainless for sale if anyones interested, they are approx 800x400x1.5mm, brushed one side (protected)

i think there are 6 sheets, looking at about ?16 a sheet.

would cost quite a bit to post, best collected from near Derby

Yes i considered that, however i really need a high speed thing to actualy spin the piece, not the tool.... for making hubs, valves etc...

I want a lathe, i currently have a milling machine with very little use,(i.e several hours)
I wonder if anyone on here would be interestind in a swap / part ex?

yes i was going to whip up an ant..

however im starting to see that this isnt really a weekly hobby, i like to meet with people every week for this sort of thing, like my old RC club.

will it really be worth building somehting that i can use times a year?
