Re: Team Roland build diary

Nemesis mk1 works much better with the new discs and a switch has been added to help stop shorting things. Mk 2 is completely built but two speed controllers haven't worked as the first one a pad fell off and the next one a connection got removed. we have ordered some more and all 3 bots should make...

Re: Team Roland build diary

Image with the 3g saved from spokes, we should have enough weight for a switch, which should make the pit easier. At sheffield university, I had to be moved back for every fight.

Re: T_Y's Build Log

They do look cool, and make nice sparks, thought the size of blade needed usually forces the robot sideways across the arena, normally towards the pit.

Re: Team Roland build diary

The next one will have wheel protection, so it should still be able to drive as it will be harder to hit the tyres off the wheels. both finalists(me and rory) need new blades as both are bent. His is bent more. Nemesis mk 2 shall win next time! Beware those at ant freeze as the next one may work con...

Re: Team Roland build diary

Nemesis mk2 will also be on 3s. so should have a even more powerful forced turn and will be even more uncontrollable. It will also be a bar.

Switches.

What switches do people recommend using. These can preferably withstand 3s.

Re: Team Roland build diary

After a first competition, terrorising sheffield uni with a spinner, it is clear that a switch is needed. So much re- soldering has been needed after pulling off wires, and before one fight, shorting a lipo. I burnt myself twice in a few minutes, first on a shorted lipo, trying to remove the disc an...

Re: Stacking components?

Make sure it is all properly insulated, or you risk a short circuit. if you are using a separate receiver and controller, then trim the antenna as this can result in a short circuit. With my spinner I have to fit the battery in between the receiver and speed controller, and tape them back to stop th...

Re: Arc Robotics AWESC Problem

One more thing, cover the board and receiver in electrical tape to avoid short-circuiting the wiring on the antenne, which happened to me last night. Glad it happened a week before my next event(robo dojo/sheffield uni), which is on sunday. A disadvantage of having to make an undercutter invertible ...
